Do you have a daily step goal that you want to achieve? 7,500? 10,000? Whether you work in an office or don’t have time to “work out,” it’s still possible to hit that number with a little planning and creativity.
3 tips that will help you get closer to reaching your step goals:
Be intentional with your time and plan ahead. If finding time during the day is tough for you, walk for 30 minutes in the morning or at night. If during work is the only time, split up your lunchtime to get your steps. (Tip: Store a pair of comfortable walking shoes in your desk.)
Get creative! You may not have thought about getting steps while…heating up food in the microwave, brushing your teeth, or watching football. These little moments add up!
Use your smartphone. It can be a great way to track your steps and remind yourself to move using apps on your phone. Just a few ideas:
- Track your steps using an app. Recommended apps: Fitbit, Apple Health, Google Fit, Samsung Health
- Set up a timer for 15 minutes using the Clock app—don’t stop walking until it rings.
- Set up a reminder for a specific time. Recommended apps: Any.do, BZ Reminder
Remember that 10,000 steps doesn’t need to be your goal. Start with 5,000 or 7,500 and work your way up. You may not hit your step goal every day, but that’s okay! Every day is a new chance to try something different.
